Universal Studios Hollywood Unveils “Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift” Ride Vehicle

Universal Studios Hollywood has officially announced “Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift,” a groundbreaking high-speed outdoor roller coaster set to open in 2026. Reaching speeds of up to 72 MPH, it will become the fastest roller coaster in the entire Universal Destinations & Experiences portfolio.

As construction continues on this ambitious project, Universal also released a first-look rendering and an animatic video that offers a glimpse into the high-octane thrill ride inspired by Universal Pictures’ Fast & Furious film franchise. The cutting-edge coaster is being specially engineered to immerse riders in the adrenaline-fueled world of street racing and stunt driving.

What sets this attraction apart is its innovative ride system featuring 360-degree rotating ride vehicles. These vehicles simulate the signature drifting maneuvers of the films, giving riders a sensation of spinning and sliding at high speeds along a 4,100-foot aerial track. Designed with integrated sound-reduction technology, the track will deliver an intense yet immersive experience as it weaves through various parts of the park — including above the multi-level escalator that connects the Upper and Lower Lots.

“The progress we’re seeing on this incredible roller coaster is truly spectacular,” said Scott Strobl, Executive Vice President & General Manager of Universal Studios Hollywood. “2026 is just around the corner, and we’re as excited as our guests to debut a ride that’s not only a game-changer for our theme park, but one that adds a bold new dimension of adrenaline to our already thrilling lineup.”

The ride will be located on the park’s Upper Lot, with guests entering through a large, garage-inspired queue area. There, they’ll board one of four ride vehicles modeled after iconic Fast & Furious cars — including a replica of Dominic Toretto’s legendary 1970 Dodge Charger, which is already on display at the park.

“Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift” continues Universal Destinations & Experiences’ legacy of redefining the modern roller coaster through innovation, storytelling, and state-of-the-art technology across its global theme parks.
