Popular '90s Mexican Ska Band La Tremenda Korte Releases Rhythmic Hombres G Cover "Lawrence De Arabia"
One of the most popular Mexican ska bands from the 1990s, La Tremenda Korte, released a rhythmic cover of “Lawrence de Arabia,” originally by Spanish pop rock band Hombres G. “Lawrence de Arabia” is the third single of La Tremenda Korte’s upcoming album Resistencia Sonora, which aligns with their 30th anniversary.
“Lawrence de Arabia” is a song that La Tremenda Korte intended to cover and perform when they formed in 1994. The song is originally by Hombres G, a band that influenced the members of La Tremenda Korte during their childhood and adolescence. Now in 2025 – and with the endorsement of Hombres G’s composer and member David Summers – La Tremenda Korte has reworked this song, preserving the essence of the original ska version. The song pays tribute to the 1962 film of the same name, which tells the story of a British officer, T.E. Lawrence, who fought alongside Arab guerrilla forces in the Middle East during World War I.
The new cover is the third official single of La Tremenda Korte’s upcoming album Resistencia Sonora, which will celebrate their 30th anniversary. Throughout three decades, the band has been the soundtrack of several generations. Under the slogan “¡Ni un paso atrás! [Not one step back!]” the band has remained relevant by creating phonographic content and offering special concerts such as the one they held at the Teatro Metropolitan in Mexico City, Mexico, on July 5th to celebrate their 30th anniversary.
Over the course of three decades, the ska band led by Manueloko has managed to perform on the most unexpected stages – ranging from movie theaters, museums, and subway stations to schools and stadiums – always to bring cultural offerings to new generations. Their song topics often reflect stories that have happened to them and others they know. Some of their most popular hits include “Tanto Amor Me Marea,” “Total,” and “Tres Patines.”
