CinemaCon, the world’s largest convention for the global cinema industry and the official convention of Cinema United, revealed today the honorees for the 2026 Big Screen Achievement Awards, taking place on April 16 at The Dolby Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. This year’s honorees are James Cameron (Cinema United Spirit of the Industry), Queen Latifah (Cultural Impact in Film), LaKeith Stanfield (Star of the Year), Zoey Deutch (Vanguard Award) Adam Scott (Award of Excellence in Acting), Noah Centineo (Star of Tomorrow), and Catherine Lagaʻaia (Rising Star of 2026).

Designed to recognize the remarkable achievements of the extraordinary talent behind the movies made for the theatrical experience, the Big Screen Achievement Awards afford an opportunity for the global theatrical exhibition industry to show their gratitude to the performers and filmmakers who bring the magic of movies to their screens.

The Big Screen Achievement Awards, hosted by CinemaCon’s official co-presenting sponsor The Coca-Cola Company, takes place at The Dolby Colosseum at Caesars Palace, and represent the finale to the world’s premier showcase of theatrical exhibition, CinemaCon. Hosting the awards this year will be Entertainment Tonight‘s Nischelle Turner.

Academy Award winning filmmaker James Cameron’s upcoming film, Billie Eilish - Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour (Live in 3D), opens in theaters on May 8, 2026 via Paramount Pictures. Captured during Eilish’s sold-out world tour using Cameron’s own proprietary 3-D camera systems, the film brings an innovative new concert experience to the big screen featuring one of the most celebrated and successful artists of this generation. Presented in immersive 3D, the film is directed by Cameron and Eilish.

With billions generated at the box office, James Cameron’s movies have placed him among the highest-grossing filmmakers of all time. Written and directed by Boots Riley (Sorry To Bother You), Stanfield stars opposite Keke Palmer, Naomi Ackie, Taylour Paige, Poppy Liu, Eiza González, Will Poulter, Don Cheadle, and Demi Moore in a film about a crew of professional shoplifters who take aim at a cutthroat fashion maven. Zoey Deutch can be seen this summer in Sony Pictures Classics Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass, releasing in theaters on July 10, 2026. Deutch stars as a small town hairdresser, Gail Daughtry, who is engaged to her devoted high school sweetheart, Tom. Her life takes a turn when a trip to a book signing leads to Tom meeting and sleeping with his “celebrity pass.” Reeling from the betrayal, Gail impulsively joins her friend Otto on a trip to Los Angeles, where a psychic convinces Gail that the only way to save her marriage is to “even the scales” with her own celebrity pass: Jon Hamm. Most recently, Deutch garnered rave reviews for her role as Jean Seberg in the Golden Globe nominated Novelle Vague, earning her a Film Independent Spirit Award nomination. Adam Scott stars in Hokum, NEON’s supernatural horror film arriving in theaters May 1, 2026. When novelist Ohm Bauman (Scott) retreats to a remote inn to scatter his parents’ ashes, he is consumed by tales of a witch haunting the honeymoon suite. Disturbing visions and a shocking disappearance force him to confront dark corners of his past. Widely known for his role in Step Brothers, Scott’s other film credits include The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, Black Mass, The Vicious Kind, Sleeping With Other People, Bachelorette, The Disaster Artist, Our Idiot Brother, Monster-In-Lay, Knocked Up, and The Aviator. Noah Centineo will star in Street Fighter, from Paramount Pictures and Legendary Pictures, in association with Capcom, arriving in theatres October 16, 2026. Filmed for IMAX® and set in 1993, Street Fighter is set to bring the battle from the arcade to the big screen with Hadoukens, roundhouses, and all your favorite characters. In addition to Street Fighter, Centineo recently wrapped production on John Rambo and will star in and produce the live-action Gundam movie. Centineo rose to fame in the popular To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before trilogy. His additional credits include the Sundance breakout Union County, as well as Warfare, Black Adam, and the television series The Recruit, on which he also served as an executive producer. Catherine Lagaʻaia will make her big screen debut in Moana, Disney’s live-action reimagining of the beloved Oscar®-nominated animated adventure opening exclusively in theaters July 10, 2026. In the film, Moana (Lagaʻaia)answers the Ocean’s call and, for the first time, voyages beyond the reef of her island of Motunui with the infamous demigod Maui (Dwayne Johnson) on an unforgettable journey to restore prosperity to her people. Prior to landing the role of Moana following a worldwide search, Lagaʻaia appeared in the limited series The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart. LAS VEGAS — Barco, a global leader in laser cinema technology, will host a special in-booth appearance by Air Bud, the canine star of the upcoming theatrical film “Air Bud Returns,” during CinemaCon 2026.

The appearance is scheduled for Tuesday, April 14, from 2-4 p.m. in the Barco exhibition space in Roman Ballrooms 3 and 4 at Caesars Palace. The event is open to registered CinemaCon trade show pass holders.

Attendees will have the opportunity to take photos with the star and participate in a custom-built basketball hoop experience tied to the film. Barco and Cineverse will provide refreshments and themed giveaways during the event.

Director Robert Vince will also join Cineverse to present an exclusive sneak peek of the film, optimized for Barco laser projection technology.

“Air Bud Returns,” the latest installment in the franchise from Air Bud Entertainment, follows the golden retriever back to Fernfield. The film is scheduled for release Jan. 22, 2027.

CinemaCon, the largest global convention for cinema operators, runs April 13-16 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. Admission to the Barco exhibit is free for trade show pass holders and fully registered attendees.

The National Hispanic Media Coalition announced today several honorees for its annual Impact Awards Gala, set for Friday, April 24, 2026, at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills. Apple TV’s comedy series The Studio will receive the Beyond the Lens Impact Award. Belissa Escobedo will be honored with the Outstanding Actress Performance in a Series Award, while Beth de Araújo will receive the Visionary Impact Award for her feature film Josephine. Netflix’s KPop Demon Hunters co-writers Danya Jimenez and Hannah McMechan will be recognized with the Storytelling Impact Award.

Hosted by comedians Chris Estrada and Frankie Quinones, the annual event celebrates individuals whose work advances a more inclusive society.

The Studio has quickly made an impact within the entertainment industry and among audiences with its sharp, insider satire of Hollywood. Its creative team has helped expand and elevate Latino voices. Beyond the Lens Impact Award honorees include Frida Perez, co-creator, writer and co-executive producer; Keyla Monterroso Mejia; Lorena Perez Batista; and Antonio Sanchez. NHMC cited their collective contributions to the series’ success.

Jimenez and McMechan are being recognized for their collaboration on KPop Demon Hunters, which blends genre storytelling with themes of identity, belonging and self-expression. Their work reflects a shared creative vision that is both innovative and culturally resonant, aligning with NHMC’s mission to combat hate, discrimination and racism toward marginalized communities.

Escobedo will be honored for her role as Isabella on NBC’s Happy’s Place, starring opposite Reba McEntire. As one of the few Latinas in leading roles on broadcast television, the award recognizes her contributions to Latino representation on screen. She is also known for her roles in Blue Beetle, The Baker and the Beauty and Hocus Pocus 2.

Araújo will receive the Visionary Impact Award for Josephine, which premiered at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival in the U.S. Dramatic Competition, where it won both the Audience Award and the Grand Jury Prize. The film was later selected for the main competition at the 76th Berlin International Film Festival and was nominated for the Golden Bear.

The all-original Universal Fan Fest Nights experience, “Forbidden Forest: Search for the Hippogriff

,” at Universal Studios Hollywood invites witches, wizards and Muggles to venture into the Forbidden Forest in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter on a mission to rescue a revered magical creature.

The experience places guests in an all-new outdoor environment created exclusively for the event. Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon the Miracle: Moon Palace Chapter Deluxe
This Japanese-language CG anime short film will screen at the DreamWorks Theatre with subtitles. The story follows Super Sailor Moon as she battles an enemy seeking the Legendary Silver Crystal, ultimately restoring peace to the Moon Palace.

DUNGEONS & DRAGONS: Secrets of Waterdeep
Returning with enhancements, this walk-through experience invites guests into the world of Dungeons & Dragons. Participants join the Harpers, a spy network, to stop the beholder Xanathar and save Waterdeep. The character is brought to life by Jim Henson’s Creature Shop, known for its work in puppetry and animatronics.

SUPER NINTENDO WORLD – Colorful Yoshi Celebration

Universal Studios Hollywood has introduced a new Dining Pass, offering guests a flexible way to enjoy meals and snacks throughout their visit for a single price. The pass is available now and can be purchased online or at the theme park.

The Dining Pass includes two eligible entrees and four eligible sides, snacks, desserts or beverages at participating in-park dining locations.

The menu features a selection of items created by Executive Chef Julia Thrash and her team, with food prepared fresh daily in the park’s on-site production kitchen. The offerings are designed to provide guests with a variety of exclusive culinary options.

“We take enormous pride in preparing an eclectic menu for our guests and want our food offerings to be as exciting as the rides and attractions,” Thrash said. “Our 30,000-square-foot production kitchen serves as the home base for all food preparation, and it’s rewarding to see guests enjoy the menu we curate.”

Award-winning filmmaker Jon Favreau will headline the annual CinemaCon Creative Community Luncheon, organizers announced. Favreau, director and producer of The Mandalorian and Grogu, stars Pedro Pascal, is set to appear Thursday, April 16, at Caesars Palace’s Octavius Ballroom in Las Vegas.

The luncheon discussion will be hosted by Matt Belloni, founding partner and editor of Puck News and host of the podcast “The Town.”

“Anticipation for a new ‘Star Wars’ movie on the big screen is sky-high, making this an incredible way to kick off the summer movie season,” said Michael O’Leary, president and CEO of Cinema United. “This event presents a great opportunity to hear from Jon Favreau, one of the most talented filmmakers working today.”

In this immersive experience, guests board the Studio Tour as “extras” in a fictional monster movie. The production is derailed when a mysterious villain, the Phantom Director, unleashes the Universal Monsters — Frankenstein’s Monster, Dracula, the Bride of Frankenstein and the Wolf Man — halting filming and plunging the set into chaos.

Armed with a Mystery Manual, guests team up with Scooby-Doo, Fred, Daphne, Velma and Shaggy to uncover the Phantom Director’s identity. Clique Hospitality and AEG Presents: Las Vegas are expanding the summer lineup for the Bel-Aire Backyard Poolside Concert Series at Durango Casino & Resort with the addition of Pepper and The Movement on the High Tide Summer Tour, featuring special guest Joe Samba.The longtime friends are scheduled to perform Thursday, Aug. 20, bringing their signature Kona dub-rock sound — a blend of reggae, alternative rock, dub, island rhythms and punk — to the poolside stage. Tickets and a limited number of VIP cabana packages go on sale at 10 a.m. PDT Friday, March 27.Pepper, a Hawaiian reggae-rock trio formed in the late 1990s in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, has spent more than two decades touring, releasing albums and performing sold-out shows from the California coast to the United Kingdom while building a loyal fan base. Now based in Southern California, the band — vocalist and guitarist Kaleo Wassman, vocalist and bassist Bret Bollinger, and drummer Yesod Williams — is hitting the road following the release of its latest EP, “Makai,” which translates roughly to “by the ocean.” With multiple collaborators on the project and new creative ventures ahead, Pepper continues to draw inspiration from its Hawaiian roots.Since forming in 2003, The Movement has built a strong following among alternative reggae fans, earning more than 373 million streams on Spotify and more than 104 million views on YouTube.

The band joins Pepper on the High Tide Summer Tour with Joe Samba, bringing its signature sound and lyricism to the stage following the release of its 2025 album, “VISIONS.” The album explores themes of consciousness and the cosmos, reflecting the band’s continued evolution within the genre.Guests can enhance their experience with a poolside cabana package, which includes 10 tickets. Each private cabana features seating, a flat-screen TV and a refrigerator stocked with soft drinks. Packages also include access to a VIP standing area with premium views of the stage, along with a dedicated cabana host. A misting system and ceiling fan provide additional comfort.Tickets start at $55.21, including fees, before taxes. Presale tickets for the artist fan club will be available at 9 a.m. PDT Monday, March 23, followed by presales for locals and Spotify users at 9 a.m. PDT Thursday, March 26. For the first time in the history of CinemaCon, the Colosseum at Caesars Palace will be renamed the “Dolby Colosseum” during the convention’s April 13-16 run.

Dolby Laboratories, a leader in immersive entertainment technology, signed a naming rights agreement for this year’s event. The company has been a sponsor of the convention since its launch in 2011 and continues its partnership with Cinema United, which hosts the annual gathering.

The Dolby Colosseum will feature Dolby Atmos sound and Dolby Vision laser projection, both designed to enhance the theatrical experience.

“We are excited about the next step in our invaluable partnership with Dolby Laboratories,” said Michael O’Leary, president and CEO of Cinema United. “State-of-the-art technology is a cornerstone of the theatrical experience, and renaming CinemaCon’s iconic main venue for this global leader is a natural choice.”

O’Leary added that Dolby’s contributions to innovation in movie theaters make the branding a fitting addition to what he described as “the world’s premier celebration of going to the movies.”

Jed Harmsen, head of cinema and group entertainment at Dolby Laboratories, said the convention has long served as a platform to showcase the company’s technologies.

“This year, we are excited to elevate our dedication to bringing a new level of truly immersive entertainment to moviegoers everywhere,” Harmsen said. “The Dolby Colosseum will serve as the home for studio presentations during CinemaCon.”

Dolby has supported main stage presentations at the venue for more than a decade, providing advanced audio and visual systems. Several presentations during the convention will be delivered using Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos technologies. The company is also the official sponsor of the CinemaCon mobile app.

CinemaCon, held annually in Las Vegas, is the official convention of Cinema United and serves as a global showcase for theatrical exhibition and industry innovation.

This fall, Universal Orlando Resort will mark a major milestone as its Halloween Horror Nights event returns for its 35th anniversary.

The resort announced that this year’s theme will be “Infernal Carnival of Nightmares,” transforming Universal Studios Florida into a decaying carnival with new haunted houses, scare zones and live entertainment. The event will draw inspiration from past Halloween Horror Nights experiences as well as well-known horror properties.

This year’s event will feature Jack the Clown and Dr. Oddfellow, two long-standing characters in the event’s history, appearing together for the first time.

One of the original haunted houses, “Jack & Oddfellow: Chaos & Control,” will explore the origins of the characters’ rivalry, following their conflict as they ultimately join forces.

The resort also announced the release of new Halloween Horror Nights 2026 merchandise featuring the two characters. Items are available at select retail locations inside the park and online.

Ticket sales for the event are expected to begin soon. Additional details about this year’s attractions will be released in the coming months. More information is available at UniversalOrlando.com/HHN.

Universal Studios Hollywood will launch its annual Universal Fan Fest Nights with the debut of “ONE PIECE: Grand Pirate Show,” a live stunt production inspired by a popular show at Universal Studios Japan. The show will take place at the WaterWorld venue.

The separately ticketed event runs for 12 nights: April 23-25; May 1-3, 7-9 and 14-16, 2026. Tickets are on sale.

Set on a reimagined Midori Island from the world of “One Piece,” the show follows the Straw Hat Crew — Luffy, Zoro, Nami, Usopp, Sanji and Chopper — as they search for rare Pop Greens, a powerful island resource.

The story escalates when Marines invade the island, triggering pyrotechnics and high-energy battle scenes. Guests will watch from surrounding bleachers.

The show also features comedic moments when rival pirate Buggy arrives, attempting to claim the Pop Greens. The approximately 20-minute performance ends with a celebratory escape sequence designed to immerse guests in the world of “One Piece.”

“Universal Fan Fest Nights” is an after-hours event focused on immersive fandom experiences. The event includes themed entertainment, character interactions, cosplay, photo opportunities and themed food, beverages and merchandise, available for purchase.

In addition to the “One Piece” show, the event will feature several experiences:

• “Scooby-Doo Meets the Universal Monsters: Mystery on the Backlot,” an interactive walkthrough featuring Scooby-Doo, Shaggy and the gang alongside classic Universal Monsters, including Frankenstein, Dracula, the Bride of Frankenstein and the Wolf Man. The experience takes place on portions of the studio backlot used in films such as “Frankenstein” (1931) and “The Wolf Man” (1941).

• “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter — Forbidden Forest: A Search for the Hippogriff,” a walkthrough experience where guests encounter magical creatures while searching for a missing Hippogriff with guidance from a Hogwarts professor.

• “Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon the Miracle: Moon Palace Chapter Deluxe,” a subtitled Japanese-language CG anime film presented at the DreamWorks Theatre, featuring Super Sailor Moon battling an enemy seeking the Legendary Silver Crystal.

• “Dungeons & Dragons: Secrets of Waterdeep,” a returning immersive experience in which guests join the Harpers to stop the beholder Xanathar. The creature is created by Jim Henson’s Creature Shop.

• “SUPER NINTENDO WORLD — Colorful Yoshi Celebration,” a themed experience where guests can meet multicolored Yoshis throughout the Mushroom Kingdom.

Ticket options include general admission, Universal Express and Universal Express Unlimited passes, as well as combination day-and-night tickets, a two-night pass and the Ultimate Fandom Pass, valid for multiple visits through May 16, 2026. Early-access tickets and VIP tour packages are also available. Special pricing is offered for pass members on select nights.

Select attractions will remain open during the event, including “Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge,” “Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey,” “Flight of the Hippogriff,” “Jurassic World — The Ride,” “Despicable Me Minion Mayhem,” “Transformers: The Ride 3D,” “Revenge of the Mummy: The Ride” and “The Simpsons Ride.”
